Subaru as a manufacturer requires no introduction, as it is most known for the Wrx, the rally car, and the main competitor to the popular Lancer Evo series. This manufacturer has tried its hand at almost every automobile sector, and the Legacy is one of their sedan options. As the name suggests, it is powered by a four-cylinder Subaru Boxer engine. There are two engines available: a 2.5L four-cylinder ordinarily aspirated engine and a 2.4L turbocharged four-cylinder engine, both of which appear to be very capable.
The Subaru Legacy is an excellent midsize vehicle. It has a huge trunk, a comprehensive list of amenities, perfect crash test scores, and abundant passenger accommodation in an ingeniously built cabin. The base engine is a 182-horsepower four-cylinder, while the XT grades have a 260-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder. All models have an all-wheel-drive (AWD) and an automatic transmission that changes speeds continuously.
While the base model comes with a long list of standard infotainment and active safety technologies, the premium trim is well worth the extra money. This variant has a larger touch screen, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and additional USB connections. The Legacy Limited is also a fantastic buy, with extra leather seats and a Harman Kardon radio for less than $30,000.
Interior
The interior hasn’t altered all that much since last year. The inside is comfortable and justifies the car’s price. The interior features a lot of soft-touch plastic and leather upholstery for the higher trim levels. Cloth upholstery is utilized on the lower trims, while red contrast stitching is used on the Sport trim to provide it with a sporty vibe.
Premium leather upholstery is expected on the Limited and Limited GT trims, while the flagship Touring XT model receives top-of-the-line Nappa leather upholstery. The front seats are heated, snug, and comfy, with plenty of headroom and legroom. The driver’s seat has control adjustment as an option on lesser trims, but it is expected on sport trims and higher. Even when fully loaded, the car handles are comfy and spacious.
Engine
The Legacy for 2024 isn’t all that different from the 2021 model; it comes with two engines: a 2.4L turbocharged power unit for the Touring and Limited XT trims and a 2.5L naturally aspirated inline-four engine for the other four trims. The power units provide 260 horsepower and 277 pounds of torque, sufficient for this cart.
The Legacy is the only car with an all-wheel-drive system and the most power and torque. The Sonata is the only car with a 6-speed automatic transmission, while the other two have 8-speed automatic transmissions. The Hyundai and Honda both have the same engine, but the Subaru has a larger one.
Subaru Legacy Release Date and Price in 2024
Pricing for the Subaru Legacy in the United States has increased on some trims while staying the same on others, thanks to a few select changes for 2024. The Legacy has an MSRP of $22,995 in most US states, excluding a $960 shipping and handling tax. The Premium is next at $25,245, with the Sport seeing one of the most significant price hikes at $28,790. The Limited costs $29,945, while the turbocharged engine costs $34,495 in Limited XT form and $36,195 in Touring XT form.
