Except for the Limited, all versions come equipped with cloth seats. Both black and ivory cloth colors are available, depending on the exterior paint you select. This feature is exclusively available on the Premium model, which also has a urethane steering wheel and additional inside lighting. The red stitching on the gearshift and leather-wrapped steering wheel is standard on the Sport model. Ivory seats are no longer an option at this level, and black sports fabric is the only option. There is also a red-stitched faux-leather interior on the dashboard, armrest, and center console storage bin to further enhance the vehicle’s sporty feel.
On top of that, there are faux carbon fiber inserts on the dashboard and door cards. The Limited edition has the same interior trimmings as the Sport model, but the seats have real leather upholstery with silver stitching instead of the Sport model’s fabric. The 6.5-inch touchscreen on the base and Premium models is replaced by an 8.0-inch display on the Sport and Limited models. Both systems have intuitive menus and high-quality visuals, making them easy to use. CarPlay and Android compatibility is standard on every Impreza.
The Subaru Impreza is a tortoise among hares, powered by a 152-horsepower, 145-pound-foot four-cylinder engine. Naturally, all-wheel drive is included as standard. Both the sedan and the hatchback need a lot of encouragement to keep the machine where it needs to be to produce power. Both have a weak low-end punch. Even though the CVT in our long-term Sport hatchback worked better than the five-speed manual in our Impreza Sport sedan, we preferred it due to the manual’s notchy and inaccurate character. In terms of both ride and handling, the Impreza is near-perfect. The little car has a lively feel thanks to the lack of body lean and the fast handling. When it came to stopping quickly in an emergency, we thought the Impreza Sport’s hard brake pedal and short stopping distance were above and beyond what was typical for the segment.
