New Subaru BRZ 2024 Concept, Colors, Redesign – The original Subaru BRZ was an actual work of art. Back-wheel-drive sports cars like the original Datsun Zs and vintage MGBs were revived with it and the Scion FRS, which was rebadged as the Toyota 86. They were a step below the new Nissan Zs and two steps below our beloved V8 American pony cars, at least in power, with their four-cylinder engines. However, in terms of pure entertainment value, they fall far short.
As an actual sports vehicle, the 2024 Subaru BRZ has a starting MSRP of less than $28,000, making it affordable for enthusiasts to get behind the wheel. It’s important to note that the prices shown here are for the manual-transmission model; those who prefer the convenience of an automatic will have to pay more. To be clear, EyeSight driver-assist technology is only available on Subaru’s automatic models.
The Subaru BRZ 2024 Redesign.
The 2024 BRZ is a brand-new model, the second of its kind. With Toyota’s help, it was built on a considerably updated version of the previous platform. A six-speed gearbox and a Boxer engine in the front, with only power for the rear wheels, are the same as the old vehicle. Subaru plans to remedy the 86/BRZ’s lack of control with a 2.4-liter naturally-aspirated flat-four engine created for the second generation model. It has 227 hp and 183 lb-ft of torque. That last figure represents a 15% increase and is critical to comprehending the new low-cost, high-performance vehicle.
With no official configurator available, the 2024 BRZ will be offered in seven different colors. Crystal Black Silica and Crystal White Pearl, along with potentially Ice Silver, are expected to be the default no-cost colors. The most exciting options, Magnetite Gray, Sapphire Blue, WR Blue, and Ignition Red, will also be paint colors.
The 2024 Subaru BRZ’s interior has been redesigned to provide additional space and several other enhancements. The BRZ has a 2+2 seating layout, which is standard for couples. However, the rear seats are just ornamental and aren’t intended to be used. However, many of the previous plans have been kept with a few much-needed changes in the build quality. Furthermore, the new all-digital instrument cluster offers even more information. The remainder of the interior is nearly identical to that of the previous model, with plenty of room in the front seats and bucket seats in the back.
A leather-wrapped steering reel, gearshift, and parking brake boot are standard on the Premium model, with a black fabric interior with red distinction stitching. The Limited has a red-leather-accented Ultrasuede upholstery as standard. The instrument panel and door trim are made of Brin Naub Nubuck-like material in both the Subaru BRZ versions. Hard and soft plastics are still used for the majority of interior decoration. There are no irritating rattles or squeaks, thanks to everything being put together correctly. It looks good, but it’s a little on the cheap side compared to the previous generation. Costs have to be slashed somewhere to make this vehicle more affordable.
Power is provided by a naturally aspirated 4-cylinder boxer engine in the Subaru BRZ. Even though it shares a standard engine block with the seven-seat Ascent offered in the US, the D4-S port-and-direct-injection system introduced in the first generation model replaces the turbocharger. At 7000 pm, the engine produces 174 kW of power and 249 Nm of torque, increasing 22 kW and 37 Nm over the previous model.
The 2024 BRZ’s gas mileage will be worse than the previous generation’s since it has a bigger engine. It’s understandable, but it’s a necessary trade-off for more power. It’s still relatively fuel-efficient, with an automatic version of the BRZ clocking in at a respectable 21/23/25 mpg in the city, highway, and combined. Mechanical models can go up to 330 miles in mixed circumstances with a 13.2-gallon tank, while manual models can travel up to 290 miles.
The Date and Cost of the Subaru BRZ
The 2024 Subaru BRZ competes with the Toyota GR86 and the most recent Mazda MX-5 in pricing and capabilities. As for its four-cylinder rivals, the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro come in at a similar price point.
The Subaru BRZ is priced without the $960 destination fee in all configurations. The six-speed manual BRZ Premium costs $27,995, while the automatic BRZ Premium costs $29,595. With a manual gearbox, the Limited costs $30,495; with a self-shifter, it costs $32,295. It is expected that the 2024 BRZ will arrive at dealerships in the summer of 2023.
